re(Spark)

re(Spark) for string quartet is a re-imagination of my 2023 composition, Spark, originally written for a viola ensemble. The piece retains the core theme and character of the original, capturing the essence of sparkling gestures in a new and vibrant way.

Key elements of Spark—harmonics, glissandi, rhythmic figures, echoes of Thai folk dance, and a nostalgic middle section—are transformed and reinterpreted in re(Spark). These elements unfold through varying textures and evolve over time, offering a fresh perspective while maintaining a connection to the original work.
